Miniature Drake Wood Duck
by Harold Gibbs (1886-1970)
West Barrington, RI.
Harold Gibbs was known and respected as a self-taught scientist, marine biologist, ornithologist, an early conservationist, crusader against pollution, a leader in the early days of saltwater fly-fishing, and a carver of significant artistic merit. He made decoys and shorebirds for himself and later in life sold them through Orvis.
This is an attractively skilled carving of a miniature Drake Wood Duck.
