Cotton Stocking Mat
A pleasing hand-hooked mat depicting 4 sailing schooners and a lighthouse at sunrise . This mat was hand-hooked from cotton by ladies at the Grenfell Mission for the British Market. At that time, Britain would not allow finished silk products to be imported, so the Mission used cotton instead of silk stockings. The attached label reads: Grenfell Labrador Industries. Handmade in Newfoundland and Labrador.
