A gorgeous double thistle flower adorns this stately stoneware crock.
The cobalt is vivid and heavily brushed which makes it a stunning piece.

Franklin Blackmer Norton was the grandson of the founder of the Bennington, VT potteries. An experienced potter, he set up his own shop with Frederick Hancock in Worcester, Mass. in 1858. Hancock left the company in 1865. Norton was joined by his sons in the late 1860’s and operated the company until 1885.
